Making the decision to seek treatment for drug or alcohol addiction can seem like an overwhelming process. At Buena Vista Health and Recovery, our goal is to help you find the best possible treatment for your needs and to assist you in preparing for our program. We’ve answered some of the most common questions we receive about our program below, and our caring Admissions Team is here to support you through the entire process.

Is Smoking Allowed?

Yes smoking is allowed. Buena Vista’s Smoking Policy – Patients can have cigarettes, vapes, and chewing tobacco during designated smoke breaks.

  1. Cigarettes – must be new unopened
  2. Vapes – must  be new, disposable and unopened
  3. Chewing  tobacco – must be new and unopened

Cigarettes may be provided depending on program compliance and group participation.

Can I have my cell phone?

We currently DO NOT allow electronics due to HIPPA regulations. We want you to be able to focus on recovery without any distractions or triggers. However we do provide time during the day to use the landline phone.

What treatment programs do you offer?

What activities are available?

The activities that we do are to show that you can have fun and stay sober. We have movie nights, volleyball, cook-outs, game nights with cards and board games, plus many more activities. We even have a personal fitness coach come and show you how to implement basic workout routines.  

Do you take AHCCCS?

We accept most insurances inlcuding AHCCCS. Our admissions team is experienced with every kind of insurance or financial situation and they are happy to assist you in finding the right solution.

Do you offer privacy for treatments?

Yes, at Buena Vista private rooms and bathrooms are available to our patients. Inorder for your loved ones to have updated information about your treatment we will obtain your written authorization (ROI) to disclose your health information. What is the duration of the program?

The length of treatment at Buena Vista Health and Recovery can vary depending on the specific needs and circumstances of each individual. Generally, treatment programs may range from short-term options, like detoxification, which might last a few days to a week, to longer-term programs that can last several weeks or even months. It’s best to speak with our treatment advisors directly to get more precise information based on your specific situation or the needs of your loved one. They can offer detailed guidance on the various programs provided and the typical duration of each.

Does Buena Vista offer Sober Living Services?

Case Management will help assist in placement with partnered sober living home. Sober living is a vital component of continued long-term sobriety it creates a comradery between you and your peers a safe living environment and structured schedules. Sober living will also provide assistance with job placement, resume writing and interview techniques.

What can I bring?

  1. All personal presciption medications
  2. Insurance card and state or federal ID 
  3. 5-7 days of clothing (comfortable clothing recommended: sweatpants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, socks, slippers, etc.) nothing with vulgar language, promoting drug or alcohol use and nothing with pornographic imagery. 
  4. Comfortable shoes, slides or flip flops
  5. Toiletries (new and sealed, NO ethyl alcohol products)
  6. Unopened packs of cigarettes, disposable vapes or chewing tobacco (Due to Arizona Federal Law, you must be 21 years or older) 
  7. Books, magazines, or other reading material (no pornagraphy)

Can I still work while in the Detox or Residential program?

Our program has been designed to give you the highest chance of success. Taking time away from the stresses of work, school and even family will give you the time needed to focus on your recovery. We can help with any FMLA or Disability paperwork if necessary once you step down to our IOP (intensive outpatient program), you will have the option of working during non-programming hours.

Can family members participate in the treatment process?

An ROI (release of information) must be signed by the client to have communication with a family member, loved one or medical team. Once this is completed by the patient, your main point of contact will be the patients Case Manager. During treatment there may be oportunity for family and friends to be included in the treatment process if their presence will assist in the treatment of the patient and if all parties agree to the process. What types of addiction do you treat?

At Buena Vista we trreat Alcoholism, Presciption Drug abuse and Illicit Drug  abuse. Taking illegal drugs or Alcohol and misusing prescription drugs, whether prescribed for you or someone else is a problem that can lead to addiction. Misusing psychoactive drugs and Alcohol affects the way an individual thinks and acts and has both short and long-term adverse effects on the person’s mental, physical health and personal relationships.
