Clinical Administrator
Sara Cothern joined Buena Vista Health and Recovery in June 2024 as a Clinical Administrator. She brings extensive experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, holding dual licensure in Illinois and Arizona. Throughout her career, Sara has worked across various behavioral health sectors, including family services, trauma, crisis intervention, medical social work, serious mental illness, and community mental health.
With a strong background in case management, counseling, program development, and leadership, Sara has dedicated her professional career to supporting individuals experiencing substance use and mental health disorders. Prior to joining Buena Vista Recovery, she served as Director of Community Integration at Heritage Behavioral Health Center in Decatur, Illinois, where she worked closely with individuals navigating complex behavioral health challenges.
Sara is deeply committed to trauma-informed care, harm reduction principles, and maintaining high standards of clinical quality. She values creating collaborative clinical environments where care teams feel empowered to provide individualized, evidence-based support tailored to each patient’s unique needs and recovery goals.
Originally from Illinois, Sara recently relocated to Tucson with her husband, daughter, and their cats. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and exploring the culture and community of her new home in Arizona.
