Professional and Hospital Referrals in Arizona

Discharge windows close fast. If you are a case manager, discharge planner, social worker, probation officer or clinician placing someone into detox or residential care, this page is the short version of what we take and how quickly we can move.

  • Admissions reachable 24 hours a day, including holidays
  • Bed status given straight, not padded
  • Benefits verified while you are on the line
  • Same-day admission when a bed is open and coverage is confirmed

If we are not the right placement, you will know inside one call. A quick no is worth more to you than a slow maybe, and where we are not the fit we will point you toward somewhere in Arizona that is.

The reception area at the Buena Vista Chandler facility

Chandler, Arizona · open 24 hours, including holidays

Clinical scope

What we take at Chandler

Two levels of care, both under one roof, so a detox referral does not become a second placement problem a week later.

Medical detox

Alcohol, opioids including fentanyl, benzodiazepines, and polysubstance presentations. 24/7 nursing with physician oversight. Typically four to seven days.

Residential treatment

Commonly around 30 days, and often longer under Medicaid authorization. Private rooms with en suite bathrooms.

Co-occurring presentations

Depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma addressed inside the residential program rather than referred out separately.

Stimulant presentations

Methamphetamine and other stimulants generally admit directly to residential, since there is no separate detox stage unless opioids or alcohol are also present.

Placements that fit well here

  • Adults 18 and over
  • Voluntary admission
  • Medicaid and most major commercial plans
  • Clients arriving from a hospital or emergency department
  • Clients with probation or court obligations
  • Clients already on a maintenance medication — flag it early for clinical review

Outpatient and partial hospitalization are handled elsewhere in Arizona, and we are glad to point you at programs we rate if that is the level your client needs.

Making a referral

How it works from your side

No portal, no form to chase, no waiting on a callback that decides your afternoon.

"Buena Vista was great for me. Comfortable, good groups, great staff. If I need to return I know they are there. And I'd recommend this place to anyone in need of recovery from addiction. Lolo at the front is always warm and welcoming, the nurses are caring and always there to help! Can't forget the BHTs always asking what they can do to help in whatever way they can."

"I cannot express enough gratitude for the support I received from Buena Vista Recovery. Katy went above and beyond in helping me navigate my court case and making pre-trial calls, ensuring I felt supported and informed every step of the way. Her dedication was truly remarkable. Mr Bacon and the entire staff played a pivotal role in changing my life for the better. Their compassion, understanding, and commitment to my recovery made all the difference. I highly recommend Buena Vista Recovery to anyone seeking help and transformation. Thank you all for everything!"

"So incredibly grateful for everyone that has been there for me throughout my recovery journey. I really miss residential lol. Not only were the staff there absolutely phenomenal and amazingly informed, but most really enjoyed what they were doing. The kitchen and food was five star most days. On top of all that, I got to have my own room and bathroom, queen size bed, vaulted ceilings, and flat screen tv. But, I am extremely grateful for the monthly Alumni events that we have. It's one of the highlights of my month every single time. Thank you Buena Vista. If I could give more stars, I so would."

"I'm so grateful for this place 💯!!! I learned so much about myself and got some great tools and the help I need. I'm out of inpatient but I'm still going there for services. I have all the love for the faculty and that place in general. They are amazing. Anyone that has anything bad to say about Buena Vista was either there for the wrong reasons or weren't ready. Thank you guys all the way around"

"I just want to say thank you to Buena Vista and the staff that work there. These people care. I can personally tell the difference between someone who just comes in for a paycheck and someone who has unconditional love and concern for every individual that they work with. From detox to out patient the staff go above and beyond to get their patients needs met! A special thanks to my case manager Katy for believing in me when I didn't even believe in myself. She met with me every day she worked and set me up for success! I'm on the next chapter of my life not only clean but finally happy. Thank you Katy!! And thank you Buena Vista. I recommend anybody needing help to at least check in for detox. Much love to you all"

Straight answers

Questions from referrers

How quickly can you take a referral?+

When a bed is open and coverage is confirmed, the same day. Bed status changes daily, so a call gives you a current answer rather than an assumption — and if we are full we will say so immediately rather than holding your client in limbo.

What information do you need from me?+

Name, date of birth, insurance plan and member ID, the substance involved and last use, current medications, and anything clinically relevant. A discharge summary is useful where you have one, but its absence will not hold anything up.

Do you accept Medicaid referrals?+

Yes. Access covers detox and residential treatment, and Banner University Family Care is in network with us today. Further plan contracts are being reinstated since the Chandler facility reopened, so it is worth checking the specific plan with us on the call.

Can you take someone straight from a hospital or emergency department?+

Yes, and that is a common route in. Tell us the discharge timing at the start of the call so we can work to it, and we can liaise directly with the case manager or discharge planner to coordinate.

What about clients with probation or court obligations?+

Common and workable. Let us know the requirements at the point of referral — attendance documentation, program length, reporting — and the case manager can support those while your client is with us.

My client is on methadone or buprenorphine. Can you take them?+

Flag it at the point of referral with the dose and duration. Our physicians review maintenance medication as part of the assessment and plan around it, and settling that before arrival avoids problems on the day.

Do you provide transport?+

Ask about airport pickup for anyone flying in. For other arrangements, raise it on the call and we will work through the practicalities with you.

What if this is not the right level of care?+

We will tell you inside the first call and suggest where else to look. Outpatient and partial hospitalization are handled by other programs in Arizona, and we would rather redirect you quickly than take a placement that will not hold.

Start with one call. We'll take it from there.

We answer at any hour of the day or night. There is nothing you have to decide on that first call, and nothing you need to have worked out before you make it.
