How it works

How insurance verification works here

Checking your coverage is not the same as signing up for treatment. It is simply finding out where you stand, which is usually the thing standing between someone and the decision to get help.

01

Share your details

A quick form or a phone call. We need your name, date of birth, and your plan information — and if the card is not in front of you, call and we can usually work it out anyway.

02

We verify benefits

Usually within minutes. Our team checks what your plan actually covers for treatment, at no cost to you and with no obligation to go any further.

03

We explain it in plain language

What is covered, what is not, and what if anything you would be responsible for. Honestly, without pressure, and with time for your questions.

Your options

What treatment costs, and how people pay for it

People rule themselves out of treatment over money more than any other reason, and they are often wrong to. Here is how the common situations actually tend to go.

You have insurance

We accept most major insurance plans. What your particular plan covers depends on the plan itself and the level of care you need, which is exactly what a verification call sorts out in a few minutes.

You would rather pay privately

Private-pay options are available, and some people prefer them for privacy or simplicity. Call and we will talk through what that looks like for the care you are considering, with no pressure attached.

You are not sure what you have

That is extremely common and it is not a problem. Call us with whatever you do know and we will help you work out where you stand — including what to do if your coverage has lapsed.

Coverage can differ between levels of care. Some plans approve detox on different terms to residential treatment, and occasionally the reverse. When we verify your benefits we look across the levels of care you may need, so you get the whole picture rather than a piece of it.

"Buena Vista was great for me. Comfortable, good groups, great staff. If I need to return I know they are there. And I'd recommend this place to anyone in need of recovery from addiction. Lolo at the front is always warm and welcoming, the nurses are caring and always there to help! Can't forget the BHTs always asking what they can do to help in whatever way they can."

"I cannot express enough gratitude for the support I received from Buena Vista Recovery. Katy went above and beyond in helping me navigate my court case and making pre-trial calls, ensuring I felt supported and informed every step of the way. Her dedication was truly remarkable. Mr Bacon and the entire staff played a pivotal role in changing my life for the better. Their compassion, understanding, and commitment to my recovery made all the difference. I highly recommend Buena Vista Recovery to anyone seeking help and transformation. Thank you all for everything!"

"So incredibly grateful for everyone that has been there for me throughout my recovery journey. I really miss residential lol. Not only were the staff there absolutely phenomenal and amazingly informed, but most really enjoyed what they were doing. The kitchen and food was five star most days. On top of all that, I got to have my own room and bathroom, queen size bed, vaulted ceilings, and flat screen tv. But, I am extremely grateful for the monthly Alumni events that we have. It's one of the highlights of my month every single time. Thank you Buena Vista. If I could give more stars, I so would."

"I'm so grateful for this place 💯!!! I learned so much about myself and got some great tools and the help I need. I'm out of inpatient but I'm still going there for services. I have all the love for the faculty and that place in general. They are amazing. Anyone that has anything bad to say about Buena Vista was either there for the wrong reasons or weren't ready. Thank you guys all the way around"

"I just want to say thank you to Buena Vista and the staff that work there. These people care. I can personally tell the difference between someone who just comes in for a paycheck and someone who has unconditional love and concern for every individual that they work with. From detox to out patient the staff go above and beyond to get their patients needs met! A special thanks to my case manager Katy for believing in me when I didn't even believe in myself. She met with me every day she worked and set me up for success! I'm on the next chapter of my life not only clean but finally happy. Thank you Katy!! And thank you Buena Vista. I recommend anybody needing help to at least check in for detox. Much love to you all"

Insurance FAQ

Questions about paying for treatment

Money is the reason people most often talk themselves out of getting help. These are the honest answers.

Do you take my insurance?+

The honest answer is: quite possibly — and the fastest way to know for certain is to let us check for you. We accept most major insurance plans, and because coverage depends on your specific plan and can change over time, we verify your benefits directly rather than have you guess from a list. It takes just a few minutes, it's completely free, and there's no obligation whatsoever. Give us a call or fill out the quick verification form with your insurance information, and we'll tell you exactly what your plan covers and what your options are. Even if we're not the right fit for your particular coverage, we'll be honest about it and help point you toward reputable options — because getting you into the right care matters more to us than anything else.

How do I verify my insurance benefits?+

It's simple and takes just a few minutes. You can call us and we will check your coverage with you over the phone, or you can fill out our verification form with a few basic details — your name, date of birth, and insurance information. Either way, our team confirms what your plan covers for treatment and walks you through it in plain language. There's no cost and no commitment to verify. Many people are relieved to learn their coverage is better than they feared — and even if you don't have your insurance card in front of you, give us a call and we can often still help you figure it out.

Will my insurance cover the full cost of treatment?+

Coverage varies from plan to plan — some cover treatment in full, others involve a copay, a deductible, or coverage for certain levels of care but not others. That's exactly why verifying your benefits is so valuable: rather than facing surprises, you'll know up front what your plan covers and what, if anything, you'd be responsible for. When we verify your benefits we'll explain all of this clearly and honestly, so you can make an informed decision with no guesswork. If there are out-of-pocket costs, we'll talk through your options with you.

Does my plan cover detox but not residential, or the other way around?+

It can happen — some insurance plans approve one level of care but have different rules for another, and coverage can also depend on medical necessity as determined during your assessment. This is one of the most common questions we help people untangle. When we verify your benefits, we look at coverage across the levels of care you may need — detox, residential, and beyond — so you get a complete picture rather than a piece of it. If your plan covers one part but not another, we'll be upfront about it and help you understand your options.

What if I don’t have insurance?+

Please still reach out — don't let a lack of insurance stop you from making the call. Our team can talk through your situation and help you understand your options, and we also offer private-pay options for those who prefer or need them. If it turns out we're not the right fit for your circumstances, we'll help connect you with reputable resources and facilities that can serve you. There's no wrong door here; the important thing is that you reach out so we can help you find a path forward.

Is verifying my insurance confidential? Will it affect anything?+

Yes, it's completely confidential. As a healthcare provider we're bound by strict federal privacy laws — including HIPAA and the additional protections that apply to substance use treatment — so your information is protected and never shared without your permission. Verifying your benefits is simply us checking what your plan covers. It doesn't obligate you to anything, and it won't affect your coverage or your premiums. It's a no-pressure, no-risk way to get clarity, and many people feel a weight lift once they finally know where they stand.

Do you accept Medicare?+

We're not able to accept Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans, as our program isn't Medicare-certified. Medicare-covered detox and treatment are usually provided in a hospital or psychiatric setting rather than a residential facility like ours. If you have Medicare and are seeking treatment, give us a call anyway — we can help point you toward appropriate Medicare-covered options so you still get the care you need. And if you have a secondary or different plan alongside Medicare, we're happy to check whether that changes your options.

Why do I need to verify instead of just reading a list?+

Because a list would mislead you. Insurance networks change over time, coverage differs between plans from the same carrier, and what a plan approves can depend on the level of care and on medical necessity determined during your assessment. A name on a page tells you almost nothing about your specific situation. A five-minute verification call tells you what you'd actually be responsible for — and it means nobody is relying on information that went out of date months ago.

Start with one call. We'll take it from there.

We answer at any hour of the day or night. There is nothing you have to decide on that first call, and nothing you need to have worked out before you make it.
