As CEO of Buena Vista Recovery, Cathy Hernandez leads the company’s efforts to expand access to substance use services in Arizona and around the country.
Since joining Buena Vista Recovery in 2021, Cathy has grown its network of payors to capacity through its full continuum care delivery. Under her leadership, Buena Vista has partnered with leading substance use and sober living systems to expand access to inpatient and outpatient treatment, achieving industry-leading performance metrics on national quality and safety measurements.
Cathy brings to Buena Vista Recovery more than three decades of leadership experience in diverse sectors of healthcare administration, including more than two decades serving as a CEO, COO, and Senior Vice President of Operations as a performance improvement executive in the acute and post-acute sectors. As a Managing Director with Alvarez and Marsal, a healthcare consulting firm, Cathy was a national and global advisor, interim CEO, and COO for several healthcare organizations, including one of the country’s largest community mental health systems, advisor for mental health and substance use integrated services for FQHC and safety net hospital systems.
Cathy earned an MBA from the University of Miami, specializing in healthcare administration and policy.
